Gantt View Project Pro

The interactive Gantt chart Dolibarr was missing: a task tree and a timeline that stay in sync, dependencies that hold, a computed critical path, resources whose workload you can see, and baselines to compare against.

What the module does

A synchronized tree and timeline
On the left, the task tree with each task's name, duration and start date; on the right, the timeline and its bars. The two scroll together, select together, and the Hide grid button clears the left panel so the chart can use the whole screen.
Drag, resize, link
A bar moves with the mouse, an edge is pulled to change the duration, and link mode connects two tasks with one click on each. Every gesture goes through the engine: successors are rescheduled, the critical path is recalculated and the plan's figures follow, in a single step.
Four link types, with lag
Finish-to-start, start-to-start, finish-to-finish and start-to-finish, each with a lag in days, positive or negative. A link that would close a cycle is refused with the reason, never silently worked around.
Eight scheduling constraints
As soon as possible, as late as possible, start no earlier than, start no later than, finish no earlier than, finish no later than, must start on, must finish on. A task is scheduled automatically from its predecessors or manually from its own dates, and the constraint corrects the result.
Critical path and slack
A forward pass and a backward pass give each task its earliest start, latest finish and slack, in WORKING days. The zero-slack chain is highlighted, and a task that starts before its predecessor finishes is flagged in red.
Work calendars and non-working days
Hours per day, start and end time, non-working days of the week, public holidays, closures, bad-weather days and resource leave. A duration is counted in working days: a weekend never makes a task look longer than it is.
Resources and weekly workload
Human resources, teams, equipment, subcontractors and rooms, with their capacity, cost and selling rate. The hours of an assignment are spread over the WORKING days of its task, then compared with the week's capacity: the grid states plainly who is under-loaded, balanced, overloaded or saturated.
Baselines and drift
The plan is captured as an initial, revised, contractual or internal baseline, then compared line by line: the drift in days on the start and on the finish, task by task, and the average over the project.
Planned versus actual curves
Two lines overlaid on the chart: in blue the progress the plan expected at that date, in red the progress actually recorded. The gap between the two is the drift, readable at a glance.
Conflict register
Overlap, resource overload, unmet dependency, unmet constraint, missed deadline, dependency cycle, unscheduled task and missing resource. Each conflict carries its severity, its quantified gap and its handling status: open, accepted, fixed or ignored.
Deadline notifications
Reminders at seven, three and one day before the deadline, a warning when a task is assigned, a flag on late tasks, and the sending of the progress and time entry report at the threshold you choose.
Keyboard shortcuts
Space selects the next task, Enter opens its window, Del deletes it after confirmation, Alt and the arrow keys scroll the timeline, Ctrl and the arrow keys expand and collapse the labels. Every shortcut can be changed from a dedicated page.
Eight export formats, three import formats
Export to Excel, PDF, PNG, JSON, XML, Primavera P6, iCal and CSV; import from CSV, Excel and JSON. Every import is first run as a dry run: the page shows what would be created, updated, left unchanged or rejected, and why, before anything is written.
Saved views and markers
A view remembers its time scale, sort order, columns, filters and panels, personal or shared. Vertical markers flag the project start and end, a review, a freeze or a contractual date.
Dashboard and seventy reports
A dashboard that starts with what needs a decision, then the portfolio figures, tasks by status and six charts. Seventy reports in ten families, each exportable as CSV, Excel, Word, PDF and JSON.
REST API and demo data set
Forty-three REST routes, including rescheduling a plan, creating a link, capturing a baseline and detecting conflicts. And a demo data set of six complete plans, installable and removable with one button.

What the module does not do

  • The module does not replace Dolibarr's native project management: it complements it. A plan can be attached to a native project and a task to a native task, and native progress is picked up, but the module keeps its own scheduling and never rewrites native dates behind the planner's back.
  • Automatic resource leveling is not done: overload is detected, quantified and flagged, but it is up to the planner to move a task or change an assignment.
  • The plan's cost is that of the assignments and time entries entered in the module; it is not reconciled with Dolibarr's analytical accounting.
  • PNG export uses the server's image library. If no TrueType font is installed, labels are transliterated to ASCII instead of being rendered with their accents; the other formats are not affected.
  • Import reads a table of tasks: it does not rebuild the dependency links of a Microsoft Project or Primavera file. EXPORT, on the other hand, does write the links in the exchange format.
  • The module synchronizes nothing with an external service: everything happens in the Dolibarr database, with no outgoing calls.

Getting started in six steps

  1. Enable the module from Setup > Modules: the tables, permissions, menus and scheduled jobs are created, and the demo data set is installed.
  2. Open Setup and set the work calendar: hours per day, non-working days, and the bar colors if your company's brand guidelines require it.
  3. Create a calendar and enter the public holidays and closures, then declare the resources and their capacity.
  4. Create a plan, attach it to a Dolibarr project, and enter or import its tasks.
  5. Open the Gantt chart, link the tasks, set the constraints, then run Reschedule and read the critical path.
  6. Capture a baseline once the plan is accepted: from then on, the comparison page tells you exactly by how many days each task has moved.
